81-year-old woman dies in Greenwich Village brownstone fire caused by faulty electrical wiring

GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- An 81-year-old woman was killed in a fire in Greenwich Village on Wednesday, that was caused by faulty electrical wiring, according to FDNY officials.

The fire broke out on the fifth floor of a brownstone on Waverly Place at around 7:20 a.m.

The resident was pronounced dead.

FDNY Fire Marshals determined that the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring in the fourth floor ceiling.

Officials say it is not suspicious.
