BROOKLYN (WABC) -- Two teenagers were taken into custody Tuesday night in connection with two armed carjackings in Brooklyn, police said.

In one of the incidents, a police officer fired a shot after a suspect allegedly drove a stolen vehicle toward him. No one was struck.

The incidents began around 7:40 p.m. in Midwood, where two teenage suspects attempted to rob a 24-year-old man at gunpoint outside a restaurant at 1624 E. 16th St., according to police. The victim fled.

The suspects then approached a 23-year-old man sitting in his vehicle at 1478 E. 15th St. and allegedly pulled him from the car at gunpoint before driving away in his vehicle.

About an hour later, the stolen vehicle was recovered in Canarsie after a 16-year-old boy crashed it, police said. He was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of stolen property and obstructing governmental administration.

Authorities said the second suspect fled.

Police later responded to another armed carjacking at 2060 Kimball St. in Marine Park, where the suspect allegedly pulled a gun on a 54-year-old woman and stole her vehicle.

Officers located the stolen vehicle near Avenue K and E. 100th St. in Canarsie at about 8:39 p.m. Police said they attempted to block in the vehicle, but the suspect drove onto a sidewalk and directly toward an officer.

The officer fired one shot, according to police. No injuries were reported.

The suspect continued fleeing into East New York, where he crashed the stolen vehicle near Pennsylvania and Wortman avenues, authorities said.

He was taken into custody at the scene.

So far, one 16-year-old boy is under arrest and charged with criminal possession of stolen property and obstructing governmental administration.

The investigation remains ongoing.
