Crews responding after vessel overturns off Liberty Island, sources say

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Crews responded to the scene after a vessel overturned off Liberty Island, police sources say.

Calls started coming in just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

FDNY Units, Harbor, Scuba and Aviation units all responded to the scene.

Sources say there were around a dozen people on the vessel when it overturned and multiple people were rescued before police arrived. NYPD divers entered the water and found two victims, believed to be a woman and a child. Both were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
