HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are looking for 2 suspected in the shooting of a 32-year-old man sitting in his Maserati at a Harlem gas station early Wednesday morning.

What investigators described as an attempted carjacking happened around 8:30 a.m. at BP gas station on Park Ave and 129th Street.

According to officials, two suspects wearing dark-hooded sweatshirts approached the driver of the vehicle and opened fire.

Surveillance video obtained by Eyewitness News shows the two men fleeing the scene.

On the security camera footage, the front nose of the 2017 Maserati Quattroporte inches out of the gas station.

Then the sporty sedan suddenly crosses Park Avenue and one man falls out of the rear passenger side door.

It looks like he drops and then quickly picks up a handgun.

Another man emerges from the gas station and they take off running south.

Gas station attendant Santokh Singh heard the gunfire and called 9-1-1.

Police say the driver of the Maserati suffered three gunshot wounds to his arm, leg and shoulder. First responders rushed him to Harlem Hospital.

NYPD Chaplain Robert Rice went to check on the victim.

"I just left the hospital. The young man is in surgery. I don't know his condition. I was at the scene and then I went to the hospital and I am now back at the scene," he said.

Investigators combed through the vehicle looking for clues.

Detectives also returned to the BP Gas Station at the corner of 129th street and Park Avenue to see if any other cameras captured images of the suspects.

A few doors away from the gas station we talked to Pedro Hernandez.

The deli worker of 15-years told us the sound of gunfire is not uncommon, but each shooting generates the same emotional response.

"Fear. Even though we are used to it because there is usually a shooting around here. We just to tried to hide when this is happening," he said.
