No specific threat to 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade: FBI bulletin

Thursday, November 20, 2025
NEW YORK (WABC) -- The 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade "will provide a broad set of potential soft targets for an attack" but there is no specific, actionable threat to an event that draws two million spectators, according to a bulletin from the FBI and law enforcement partners obtained by ABC News.

The bulletin said there is a persistent threat from mass casualty and targeted shootings like the September assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah.

The bulletin also called out the New Year's Day attack in New Orleans to spotlight a concern about vehicle ramming.

"We remain concerned about the use of vehicle ramming against high-profile outdoor events such as the 2025 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Vehicle ramming has become a recurring tactic employed by threat actors in the West who target crowded pedestrian areas, marked by a continued interest from foreign terrorist organizations and their supporters, domestic violence extremists, and other lone offenders," the document said.

Sanitation trucks and other vehicles used to block intersections are expected to be in place for the parade.
