The City Council has passed Intro 92, which restores the Department of Sanitation's ability to use stickers as part of enforcement against alternate-side parking violators.
The measure reverses a 2011 law that prohibited the Department of Sanitation from placing stickers on vehicles that violate alternate-side parking rules.
Under the new bill, sanitation workers would be allowed to place stickers up to 8.5 by 11 inches on the windows of cars that remain parked during scheduled street cleaning.
Sanitation officials say the goal is simple: get motorists to move their cars so crews can properly clean city streets.
The City Council also approved a bit that will "require all businesses that produce food waste and other organic waste to separate their food and yard waste for composting."
