"Cleaning up illegal dumping in Soundview" received the most votes in the Mayor's Municipal Madness bracket-style competition of city "fixes" people most wanted to see.
The contest was held in anticipation of the mayor's 100th day in office to highlight the administration's commitment to addressing issues affecting everyday New Yorkers.
Mamdani hit the ground running after taking office in January.
The mayor has been working to deliver on several campaign promises, from a rent freeze, to free buses, and childcare, while also confronting pressing challenges facing the city.
Mamdani became the first Muslim mayor sworn into office. But celebrations quickly gave way to immediate tests, as two winter storms slammed the boroughs, dumping heavy snow and creating major challenges citywide.
The mayor insisted the city remain operational, with every street plowed. Learning moved online for the nation's largest school district for one day, allowing students to attend class from home during the height of the storms.
Since then, Mamdani has announced a new initiative designed to speed up affordable housing construction on city-owned land. The program, called the Neighborhood Builders Fast Track, aims to accelerate development timelines. The mayor has already identified three city-owned sites for fast-tracked housing.
One major campaign promise already delivered is universal childcare for 2-year-olds, set to roll out this September. City officials say the program is expected to save working parents about $20,000 per child.
"We know there are too many parents whom the traditional model for child care has forced them to rush out of the office, has forced them to pray that their stars will align so that they will be able to pick up their child on time, only for them to sometimes work a double shift," Mamdani said.
To mark his official 100th day in office on Friday, Mamdani kicked off the illegal dumping cleanup in the Bronx, followed by a lead inspection with the Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
According to a recent Marist poll, 48% of city residents approve of the job Mamdani is doing in office and 30% disapprove.
On Sunday night, he will hold a rally in Queens at 6 p.m., where he is expected to deliver his 100-day address.
