Mayor Eric Adams announced the parade will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. followed by a special ceremony at City Hall.
The parade will kick off from Battery Park and travel north along Broadway to City Hall, through what is known as the "Canyon of Heroes."
Ahead of the celebration, City Hall and other municipal buildings were lit up in seafoam green after the Liberty won their first champion in franchise history.

"The New York Liberty are champions - not just in the WNBA, but to each and every New Yorker who calls the five boroughs home," Adams said. "This season, the Liberty beat the best of the best, secured the best record in the league, and, for the first time in franchise history, brought home a WNBA championship. For making their city proud, winning the gold, and serving as a role model to young girls and boys alike, I am honored to host a ticker tape parade for the New York Liberty this Thursday and celebrate our champions with 8.3 million New Yorkers."
The Liberty will also host a celebration with fans at the Barclays Center on Thursday at 7 p.m. The parade is open and free for all fans to attend, but those wishing to attend the Championship Ceremony at City Hall and the fan celebration at Barclays Center must claim tickets.
"This Championship is not only for us and New York City - it's for all Liberty Loyals and our Brooklyn community! We are honored to celebrate at the iconic Canyon of Heroes, and also come together with our passionate fans at our home in Brooklyn," said New York Liberty CEO Keia Clarke. "The community in the borough has embraced us wholeheartedly since we began playing at Barclays Center and we want to share this moment with them."
Adams said 125 sets of tickets will be available to the City Hall Ceremony Thursday. You can text 'LIBERTY TIX' to 917-909-2288 by 5 p.m. Tuesday to enter, and the city will contact the 125 winners and their guest.
NYC has held more than 200 ticker-tape parades in more than 100 years, showering a range of honorees -- athletes, soldiers, politicians, astronauts and even a virtuoso pianist -- with tiny scraps of paper.
