Zohran Mamdani tried his hand at Tai Chi with seniors on the Lower East Side, continuing his attempt to reach out to older voters.
"These same seniors are the ones facing so many of the pressures of this affordability crisis," Mamdani said. "Now is the time to deliver an affordability agenda for seniors who are being pushed out of the city they call home."
When it comes to seniors and middle-aged voters, Mamdani is essentially tied with Andrew Cuomo. It's a category the former governor desperately needs.
A major finding in Thursday's Marist Pollshows Mamdani with a 16-point lead, overall.
Cuomo campaigned with conservative Russian immigrants in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. Among them was Inna Vernikov, a Republican city councilwoman who is no longer endorsing Curtis Sliwa.
"He does not have a chance to win and be the mayor, unfortunately," she said. "And our goal right now is to beat Mamdani. And in this election, the only one who can beat Mamdani is Governor Andrew Cuomo."
"What I'm trying to do is put together a coalition of Democrats, Republicans, independents to really come together and let's say we are New Yorkers first," Cuomo said. "And this is an existential threat to New York City."
Sliwa continues to insist that most Republicans will stick with him. He returned to the subway today, campaigning with a Halloween theme.
"Like Dracula, Mamdani, he wants to treat everyone to freebies while taxpayers pick up the tab," Sliwa said. "He'll suck the taxpayers dry to be able to pay for free bus universal childcare and all the other social programs that he has said will cost the taxpayers nothing. He is clearly Dracula, the vampire. And we see Andrew Cuomo is clearly the political zombie who's come back from the dead."
