Man critical after Midtown hit-and-run crash

MIDTOWN (WABC) -- A pedestrian is critical after being struck in an apparent hit-and-run crash overnight Monday.

The victim was found in Midtown on Eighth Avenue at West 49th Street just after 2:45 a.m.

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital with critical injuries, according to police.

A vehicle with three occupants fled the scene.

Police were reportedly scouring the area for the car.

(Editor's note: A previous version of this story said the pedestrian died, but police now say the victim is critical.)
