Popular New Jersey bakery destroyed in fire reopens 2 years later

FAIR LAWN (WABC) -- It's been nearly two years since a fire destroyed a strip of shops in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, including a popular family bakery.

Despite challenges, Zadies Kosher Bake Shop has rebuilt and reopened in a new location.

The fire destroyed four generations' worth of family recipes.

Store owners were able to recover some of the family relics, but they had to remake some of their goods by trial and error.

In July 2024, the shop was reduced to ash after a fast-moving fire just one day before the store's 19th anniversary.

The owners had their wholesale operation to fall back on while they reestablished their retail business.

They have also expanded some of their offerings.

The owners are thankful for all of the support.

The bakery is located on Promenade Boulevard in Fair Lawn with a much larger storefront than before to accommodate all of its customers.

Wednesday was a soft opening and the shop will have a ribbon-cutting on May 11.
