"I want to know what happened," she said.
Tanya's sister, Vidya Dookran-Franco, 51, was a substitute teacher and was very involved in the community.
Police say Dookran-Franco was hit by a yellow taxi that jumped the curb after colliding with a Honda Accord at Lefferts Boulevard and 115th Avenue at 3 a.m. on Saturday.
The victim had just left a bar right down the block, according to her older sister, and was walking back to her car with a couple of friends when suddenly they were hit while standing on the sidewalk. The force of the collision left damage behind.
Police say two other men sustained only minor injuries. Dookran-Franco, however, did not survive the severe bodily trauma.
Video shows police examining one of the drivers, but no one has been arrested.
It is the second time this week a yellow cab rammed into pedestrians. It also happened on Christmas in Herald Square.
