The family's ordeal began around 2 a.m. in the Douglaston section when they called police for help.
As officers arrived on the scene, they spotted a woman running out with a baby in her arms.
A woman at the residence told investigators that three people came into the home and were still inside with other family members at the time police arrived.
Inside, 7 victims were being held. A 72-year-old man, 71-year-old woman, 44-year-old woman, 43-year-old man, 13-year-old boy, 10-year-old girl and 1-year-old girl were all in the home alongside the suspects.
According to police, the suspects flashed guns and hammers at the victims. The 43-year-old man was hit on the foot with a hammer, and the 71-year-old woman was punched in the face. Both victims declined medical attention.
All three suspects were able to escape the home through a kitchen window with cash in tow.
Police deployed drones and set up a perimeter around the house and eventually found the suspects and took them into custody.
Police sources say they believe the incident was targeted.
