75-foot-tall Rockefeller Center Christmas tree on its way to NYC; Lights will be added December 3

Thursday, November 6, 2025
NEW YORK (WABC) -- The Rockefeller Center tree for the 2025 holiday season is officially on its way, scheduled to arrive in Manhattan on Saturday.

This morning, the 75-year-old, 75-foot-tall Norway spruce was laid onto a flatbed truck for a 150-mile journey from East Greenbush, just outside Albany. It is a donation from the Russ family.

On Dec. 3, the Christmas tree will be officially decked out for the holiday season, with the addition of 50 thousand multi-colored, energy-efficient LED lights and topped with a Swarovski star. The lighting ceremony will happen that same day, during a live broadcast at Rockefeller Center.

The tree will remain on display until mid-January, and then will be milled into lumber for Habitat for Humanity.
