The nine finalists for the 24th annual competition were picked based on criteria such as cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. The finalist with the most votes will win a Cintas UltraClean restroom cleaning service and $2,500 in facility services or restroom cleaning, along with the designation of being a premier public restroom.
The contest highlighted The Rooftop at Pier 17's "expansive, luxurious restrooms with stunning panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline."
The bathrooms have 75 stalls, and are described as having been "designed with both elegance and accessibility in mind."
Additional features helping this particular New York City building's bathrooms stand out include "smooth concrete walls, soft lighting and stylish ADA-compliant sinks," as well as the light that "pours in from oversized windows, enhancing the airy, open feel of the restroom."
The Rooftop at Pier 17 is competing against eight other finalists: Bear Head Lake State Park in Ely, Minnesota; City of Fruita in Fruita, Colorado; Footprints in Lawrence, Kansas; Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah; Moderne Bar in Orlando, Florida; Rosebrook Lodge in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire; Tatsu in Dallas, Texas; and Tecolote Shores in San Diego, California.
"For over two decades, this contest has honored businesses that understand the value of clean and memorable restroom experiences," said Emily Ramos, Director of Marketing at Cintas. "This year's finalists showcase the perfect balance of creativity, cleanliness and customer care. We're excited for the public to help determine the winner."
Voting is open at bestrestroom.com now through Aug. 15.
