Shot fired inside Port Authority bus terminal subway station, 2 in custody: NYPD

TIMES SQUARE (WABC) -- Two 18-year-olds are in custody after a shot was fired inside a Midtown subway station on Monday evening, police said.

It happened in the lower level of the 42nd Street Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station, where you can access the A/C/E subway lines.

A group of six young men were gathered in the station. Witnesses saw the teens roughhousing just before the shot was fired.

Bystanders pointed out two men who were arrested without incident just after 8:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported and one shell casing was found.



A street performer described what he saw to Eyewitness News.

"I saw a bunch of kids, messing around, teenagers. Something went off. sounded like a Gunshot. not really too sure. Everyone started running. I stood here continued rapping," he said.

Police said Tuesday that 18-year-old Ronald Gutierrez was charged with reckless endangerment, theft of services and criminal possession of a weapon while 18-year-old Loyo Jhean Carlos was charged with reckless endangerment and theft of services.

Officials say Gutierrez was in possession of a knife, which was recovered at the scene.
