NEW YORK (WABC) -- New York has got some pretty serious bragging rights at the moment, not just with the Knicks but in the world of entertainment.

The Tribeca Festival kicks off Wednesday marking its 25th year!

As the story goes, 25 years ago, Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal had an idea: use what they know to help the city they love.

So, they started the Tribeca Festival to help Lower Manhattan after 9/11. More than $1,000,000,000 in economic impact for the city, safe to say, it worked.

This year brings a slate of more than 100 feature films, premieres, talks and reunions, including a highly anticipated one between Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro.

From old films to new, TV, podcasts, documentaries, games, immersive experiences and music, the festival covers it all.
