Cynthia Singh lived on the second floor of the home and was about to take a shower.
"When I looked through the bathroom window, I saw the black smoke through the back," she said, "I heard my neighbor's kids screaming, so she was rushing with the kids."
Flames quickly engulfed the home. A man who lives next door also got out just in time as the fire spread to the neighboring houses on both side.
"Because of the wind, it just spread left and right," said eyewitness Roy Samaran.
Officials say the wind pushed the fire to homes across the street and took down power lines.
Radha Delmaram lived on the first floor and was at work.
"All my jewelry, all my documents...all gone," she said.
