It happened around 4:15 p.m. in the store on the 200 block of South 10th Street.
The victim was identified as Rabel Ramos-Gomez, of Belleville.
A law enforcement source tells Eyewitness News that this was not a robbery, but that a car drove up and someone fired shots that went into the store.
Everyone hit the floor, and the store owner was the only shot and killed. Family members said bullets from an AK-47 pierced the wall.
Ramos was working in the kitchen when gunfire filled the corner outside.
It is unclear at this time who may have been the intended target.
UPDATE: On Friday, July 22, police announced 24-year-old Quadree Richardson had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
