A good Samaritan named Jared says he was driving home from work when he saw one of the victims lying in the street.

"He was lying face down. I tried talking to him. He responded. He was shot," he said. "Then other people started coming and it became apparent that there were more people shot I started looking around, there was a car filled with bullet holes. There were other bodies lying on the ground."

All four were taken to Jamaica Hospital.

A 29-year-old man, who was shot in the back, was pronounced dead. A 43-year-old man is in critical condition, and a 29-year-old and 36-year-old man are both in stable condition.

The gunfire rocked the normally quiet residential block.

"I've been here for almost 20 years already," said a resident named Ozzie. "Shocking."

"I'm very surprised. The neighborhood is not like that. You know it's kind of middle class and everybody knows everybody," resident Paul Humphries said.

Distraught family members of one of the victims showed up at the scene in search of answers.

Officials believe the shooting is possibly gang-related.
