Pennsylvania veterinarian creates braces for pet goldfish

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- A medical fish breakthrough in Allentown has all of social media smiling.

Mr. Hot Wing, a standard goldfish, is now sporting what might very well be the first set of fish braces.

The picture has gone viral since Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology posted it on their Facebook page.

But Mr. Hot Wing is hardly your average goldfish.

His doctor, Brian Palmeiro - aka, the fish doctor, tells Action News he was born without a lower jaw bone and his mouth couldn't stay open, which made it hard to eat and breathe.

Dr. Palmiero did a lot of research and came up with custom braces that he crafted from a plastic credit card.

The whole surgery cost about $150 dollars.
