National Donut Day
Some New York doughnut shops gave us an inside look at their clever creations.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The fact that it's Friday is usually worth celebrating, but there's another reason as well, because the first Friday in June happens to be National Doughnut Day.

People across the country will be able to mark the occasion by getting a sweet deal, as many stores will be providing free doughnuts.

Here are some of the locations:

Dunkin' Donuts will give a free doughnut with any drink purchase.

Krispy Kreme offers a free doughnut with no purchase necessary, in every state except Connecticut.

Duck Donuts will hand out a free sugar doughnut with no purchase necessary.

Cumberland Farms is giving free doughnuts between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. with any purchase of coffee or a fountain drink.

Entenmann's will give away one free doughnut at select locations all across the country, and is also holding a sweepstakes in which one lucky winner will get a full year of free doughnuts.

National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by the Salvation Army to honor its "Doughnut Lassies", who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.
