PARK SLOPE (WABC) -- With this late blast of winter how about a warm and cozy spot for dinner?

This week's Neighborhood Eats offers up authentic Thai food with a healthy twist.

SkyIce Sweet & Savory is located at 63 5th Avenue, in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

"I'm here and I miss what we had in Thailand," said Sutheera Bayer, of Sky Ice.

Brooklyn is a long way from Bangkok, but Sutheera and her husband Jonathan are making sure SkyIce offers a taste of her native home.

"We wanted to do something that's hard to find and something that's really authentic," Sutheera said.

You won't find mom's fried rice anywhere else, because no one else makes it like Chef Dean.

He also turns out a green curry fried rice and a pad Thai made without noodles.

Instead of noodles, he uses shredded young green papaya.

The pad Thai sauce is made first with palm sugar, tamarind concentrate, fish sauce, and garlic powder and paprika.

Next Dean fries an egg and adds that papaya along with the pad Thai sauce, ground peanuts, scallions, smoked tofu and bean sprouts round out the dish, and it's topped with grilled salmon.

And then there's the decadent part of the menu; the ice cream.

"We started with a lot of the Asian influenced flavors to touch on Sutheera's roots," Jonathan said.

So if you can't decide between Thai coffee and durian and black sesame seaweed, opt for the palate of 12 mini scoops. It's part of what makes sky ice so enticing.
