Long Island high school student critically injured after being hit by car
The ninth-grader at Oceanside High School was hit at the intersection of Foxhurst Road and Harvey Avenue just before 7:20 a.m.

OCEANSIDE, Long Island (WABC) -- A ninth-grader at Oceanside High School was struck by a car and critically injured Friday morning.

According to Nassau County detectives, a 63-year-old man was driving a 1998 Lexus east on Foxhurst Road just before 7:20 a.m. and struck the 14-year-old girl, who was walking in the vicinity of Foxhurst Road and Harvey Avenue.

The teen suffered massive trauma and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She is listed in critical condition.

The car that struck the teen stayed at the scene and no charges were immediately filed.

The investigation is ongoing.
