NEW YORK (WABC) -- Is the front of your fridge full of children's artwork? Now there's a way to save the old drawings forever and make room for the new.
There they go, young artists at work, and parents know they can be prolific.
"I've got that drawer of art that won't close, I have that refrigerator that there's not room for one more piece of art," said Meg Ragland, of Plum Print.
Meg Ragland knows all too well and so does her cousin Carolyn Lanzetta, these are her kids.
"I finally got fed up, I didn't have enough room in my Manhattan apartment and I started taking photos of it and made a book," said Lanzetta, of Plum Print.
That book actually inspired their whole business, Plum Print. It's a way to preserve those masterpieces once they've hung on the kitchen walls long enough.
"We send them a prepaid box, they just dump all the artwork in, slap on the prepaid label and send it right back to us,"
"You can actually send us multiple boxes, but the box that we ship out typically hold between 200 to 250 pieces, so not many people need an extra box," Lanzetta said.
The works are professionally photographed and laid out. Even sculptures can be included; all you have to do is approve the digital proof.
Three weeks later, the book arrives complete with a title page featuring the artist.
"It's a way for parents to say to kids, 'you are amazing, I treasure your work and this is why I want it published for you. And the kids just beam with pride and they remember who was sitting next to them when they made each piece," Lanzetta said.
And that is beyond satisfying for the children.
"When we started this business it was to take care of clutter issues for moms, but now we've just been amazed at how much happiness, and joy, and how proud children are," Ragland said.
Plum Print books start at $75. If you want your artwork back, Plum Print will happily return it, otherwise, it goes to "art heaven". Plum Print even works with schools to offer discounts and incentives.
They're also coming out with note cards and canvases featuring your children's work.
