Police search for man who robbed woman of $2 in Harlem elevator

Woman robbed on Harlem elevator
The search is on for the man who robbed a woman in a Harlem elevator.

HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police want to find the heartless thief who offered to help a 74-year-old woman, and then robbed her of her last two dollars.

It happened Saturday afternoon in the vicinity of West 122 Street and Manhattan Avenue in Harlem.

Police say the suspect proceeded to pick up one of the victim's grocery bags and assist her into the lobby of her residential apartment building.

He then went with her into the elevator. Once inside the elevator, the man demanded the victim's money, and took $2 in cash from her.

The NYPD issued a description of the suspect:

Male, black, 45 to 50 years-old, 5'8" to 5'10", 200lbs to 220lbs,, with a mustache. He was last seen wearing glasses, a tan/mustard colored hoodie, and a multicolored hat.
