Michelle Charlesworth has the details from North Amityville.

Police are investigating after a stray bullet went through the second-floor window of a home on Long Island Monday morning.

No injuries were reported when the bullet pierced the glass of the house on County Line Road in North Amityville around 8:30 a.m.

Authorities say the shots rang out across the street, with people in one car firing at another vehicle.

The residents of the home did not want to go on camera or be identified because they are so shaken up, but a woman inside told Eyewitness News that her 12-year-old Godson had been sitting in the same bay window for hours just a few days ago.

"I am so scared, I can't talk about this," the homeowner said.

Luckily, no one was upstairs at the time.

The nearby Northwest Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown, which has since been lifted.

Many people who heard about what happened said they wished they were more shocked by the broad-daylight shooting, but added that they weren't that surprised.

Police continue to investigate and search for suspects.
