One man killed in car crash in Newark that left car on side

NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- Police in Newark are investigating fatal car crash that left one car on its side Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened at about 4 p.m. on North 6th Street near 4th Avenue.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office said one man was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

The prosecutors office initially said there were shots fired during this incident and it was deemed a homicide, but have since said this is only a deadly car crash and that the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
