Sources tell Eyewitness News the woman is part of a group that collects recyclables on the block.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. The investigation is being conducted by the Brooklyn Special Victims Squad.

People who live near the building say the super has tried many times to secure the basement, but people who do not live there keep breaking in.

The suspect is described as black male, approximately 5-foot-7 and 145 pounds with a medium complexion, medium build, and close-cut kinky hair. He is described only as a person of interest at this point.
