EAST NEW YORK, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police have released new surveillance video showing a man they say they want to talk to in connection with the brutal attack and rape of a 60-year-old woman in Brooklyn last week.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. last Wednesday, when officers responded to a 911 call for a woman sexually assaulted in the vicinity of Berriman Street in East New York.
The victim told police that the suspect grabbed her from behind, covered her mouth and dragged her into the boiler room of the location, where he repeatedly punched her in the face and raped her.
Sources tell Eyewitness News the woman is part of a group that collects recyclables on the block.
The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. The investigation is being conducted by the Brooklyn Special Victims Squad.
People who live near the building say the super has tried many times to secure the basement, but people who do not live there keep breaking in.
The suspect is described as black male, approximately 5-foot-7 and 145 pounds with a medium complexion, medium build, and close-cut kinky hair. He is described only as a person of interest at this point.
