Man and woman sought in brutal assault of elderly man in West Village

WEST VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police in the West Village are searching for the man who brutally beat an elderly man in the West Village, and the woman who stood by as his lookout.



It happened on Wednesday at around 2:12 p.m. right outside the Salvation Army on West 14th Street.



The male suspect punched the 75-year-old man in the back of his head and knocked him to the ground.



Then, the suspect kicked the victim in the face, rendering him unconscious.



The female suspect stood by as a lookout during the attack.

The victim suffered a cut to his head and was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital in stable condition.



The male suspect is described as having black hair with a red streak in it and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, beige pants, and a black and gray backpack.



The female suspect is described as wearing a green dress with a hood over her head and black sneakers.
