Woman hurt after a car crashes into nail salon
Toni Yates has the latest on a crash at a New Jersey nail salon.

FAIRFIELD, New Jersey (WABC) -- A hair salon customer in New Jersey was injured when an out-of-control car slammed into the building, pinning her.

The 60-year-old woman was leaving Hair Core Salon in a shopping strip off Fairfield Road in Fairfield just before 10 a.m. Monday.

Police say it appears the 80-year-old driver was simply not concentrating at the time of the crash.

While trying to pull into a spot directly in front of the salon, she instead hit the gas as the other customer was on her way out.

"The medical situation does not appear evident," Fairfield police Chief Anthony Manna said. "We are going to check the vehicle eventually for mechanical deficiencies. We don't even believe that. It's just purely appears to be an accident. Maybe the driver was not concentrating."

The images were captured on surveillance cameras from a grocery store a few doors down. The owners of the store and salon workers could be seen running up to help.

The woman who was hit was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The driver refused medical attention at the scene.
