Three people were hurt in a chain-reaction crash on the Cross Bronx Expressway Saturday morning.
Two tractor trailers and two cars collided in the northbound lanes around 4:20 a.m. at the Webster Avenue exit.
Traffic was starting to merge at a construction site when an SUV failed to slow and hit a car, causing a chain reaction.
There also was a fuel spill at the scene. According to the New York City Fire Department, three people inside the SUV were hurt.
One person was critically injured and two others had minor injuries.
The injured were taken to area hospitals.
All lanes in both directions were shut down but have since reopened.
