4 people shot in Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (WABC) -- Four people were shot in Newark Tuesday night.

It happened near Springfield Avenue and Irvine Turner Boulevard around 9:30 p.m.

It's not yet known what led to the shooting, or if the victims were the intended targets.

Witnesses described hearing nine or 10 shots ring out.

The victims were rushed to area hospitals where they are expected to survive.

No weapon has been recovered.

An active investigation is underway at the scene.
