7-week-old baby found dead inside Long Island home

HEMPSTEAD, Long Island (WABC) -- A 7-week-old baby was found dead at a home on Long Island Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the residence on Cornell Street in Hempstead around 6 a.m. Tuesday for a baby not breathing.

Arriving officers found the child unresponsive, and the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further details were not released, but preliminarily, it is considered an accidental death.

The investigation is ongoing.
