CARTERET, New Jersey (WABC) -- A total of 82 cars were damaged in an overnight fire that burned through a New Jersey auto salvage lot.
The vehicles, some stacked, caught fire in the Insurance Auto Action lot in Carteret just after 2 a.m.
The cars quickly burned, fueled by the remaining gas in the vehicles' gas tanks.
Tens of thousands of cars are stored in the lot, and 82 were damaged before the flames were extinguished.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
