BAY RIDGE, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police said a Brooklyn fire that killed an elderly woman was an accident.
The woman was pulled from the fire in Bay Ridge just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. The fire broke out on 79th Street near Fourth Avenue.
Smoking in bed appears to be the cause, according to fire officials. The 93-year-old victim appears to have fallen asleep while smoking.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
