Teenager burned on Long Island when bag full of hot liquid explodes
The teenager's injuries are not life threatning.

ISLAND PARK, Long Island (WABC) -- A teenager was hurt when his bag caught fire on Long Island Friday morning.

The incident happened around 11 a.m., as the 16-year-old was in the backyard of a home on Waterford Road in Island Park. Authorities say something in the bag exploded, and he suffered burns on his back and arms.

He was airlifted to a local hospital, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the explosion and fire is under investigation.
