SHIRLEY, N.Y. (WABC) -- A Shirley man arrested Tuesday morning faces multiple charges involving criminal sex acts with a minor.

Sean Coraggio, 22, was charged with promoting sexual performance by a child, possession of a sexual performance by a child and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

Police said he was previously a security guard in the Longwood and William Floyd School districts, and a contractor for Stony Brook University.

But according to the Longwood School District, Coraggio trained for two days, Sept. 8 and 12, as part of a two-week program to become a substitute security guard for Longwood Schools. After those two days, he did not return to complete his training and his employment with the Longwood Schools never developed.

"His employment with Longwood Schools never developed," a statement from the school read.

Similarly, the William Floyd School District said Coraggio was employed as a substitute security guard at the high school for 14 hours over a period of three days in September, during which time he was partnered with a veteran security guard for training purposes.

Officials there said all potential district employees, including security, are subjected to a thorough pre-employment screening, which includes fingerprinting, a criminal background investigation and a reference check. After failure to maintain the ongoing civil service requirements for the guard position, Coraggio was no longer called in for substitute employment.

In court Tuesday, prosecutors didn't talk about the relationship between the victim and the suspect, nor did they say how old victim was.

The alleged incident happened on one occasion, when they say Corragio had sex with victim. When police arrested Corragio, they reportedly found hundreds of pictures of child porn on his computer.

Corragio is in Marines reserves and volunteers with the New York State Naval Militia and with an ambulance company in Mastic. He also volunteers at his church.

The judge ordered him held on $120,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
