JERSEY CITY (WABC) -- Police in New Jersey are searching for the gunman who killed a Good Samaritan.
It happened at a deli in Jersey City.
The victim had come to the aid of a woman who was being harassed, and investigators say that's when he was shot.
25-year old Darren Talington was shot around 3:30 a.m. Saturday outside of the A-Plus Deli, and after being rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, was pronounced dead at around 6:30 a.m.
He was helping a woman who was being harassed by an intoxicated man, who then confronted Talington, and a fight began outside the store.
That's when police say another man jumped out of a car with a gun and shot Talington several times.
Authorities are going through surveillance footage after one attacker ran from the scene, while the other jumped in a car and left.
Talington has a brother who is a Jersey City firefighter and he was a candidate to join the department.
