Man dead, woman wounded in Brooklyn double shooting
Darla Miles has the latest from Bedford-Stuyvesant.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A man was killed and a woman wounded when a gunman opened fire on their SUV in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

The victims were shot while sitting in the vehicle just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, in the 600 block of Halsey Street.

According to the New York City Police Department, 33-year-old Earnest Brown, a father of eight, was sitting in his black Mercedes SUV double parked, when a gunman walked up to the vehicle and opened fire.

He was shot in the head and torso, and pronounced dead at Interfaith Medical Center.

A 22-year-old woman was shot in the torso. She was stable at Kings County Hospital.

The suspect fled the scene and no arrests were immediately made.
