West Babylon nursing home worker charged with stealing from dementia patient

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (WABC) -- An employee of a West Babylon nursing home was arrested Friday after police said she stole a necklace from a patient.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, Beyonca King, a certified nursing assistant, stole a necklace from a patient in June and pawned it for cash. The family of a dementia patient at Berkshire Nursing Rehabilitation Center contacted police on June 25 after a gold necklace and charm worn by the patient disappeared.

Officers investigated and King, 29, of Wyandanch, was charged with petit larceny. She was scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip Friday.

King has worked at the facility since 2010
