NYPD officer charged in alleged 3-year sex abuse of 10-year-old starting in 2005

BROOKLYN (WABC) -- An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested Wednesday on child molestation charges after allegedly having sex with the underage daughter of a family friend.

According to authorities, 33-year-old Jacob Sabbagh had sex with the girl for three years, from 2005 to 2008.

The victim says the assaults occurred when she was 10 to 13 years old.

She reported the incidents at 16, but it took years before the case was brought to the Brooklyn District Attorney.

Sabbagh has been an NYPD officer for about six years and was most recently assigned to building maintenance.

He was suspended without pay.
