Police say man intentionally hit off-duty NYPD officer on Staten Island

Jeffrey Pernicka is accused of swerving into an off-duty police officer's motorcycle Wednesday in the Tottenville section of Staten Island and then taking off.

TOTTENVILLE, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police say a man intentionally ran down an off-duty NYPD officer over a noise complaint.

Jeffrey Pernicka is accused of swerving into an off-duty police officer's motorcycle Wednesday in the Tottenville section of Staten Island and then taking off.

He was apparently upset about the motorcycle's loud engine.

The officer suffered broken bones but is OK.

Pernicka was later arrested at his home.
