Police are searching for a driver in a hit and run that knocked a man out of his shoes after he was dragged down the street by an SUV in Queens.

The victim has been identified as Mariano Contreras of Corona and was originally from Mexico. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Contreras was remembered as a hardworking immigrant who was kind and generous to his family and friends - and was a 'good guy' who didn't bother anybody. Contreras just enrolled at LaGuardia College so he could learn more English/

Contreras' family members, including his nephew and his sister placed white roses and lit candles at the scene of the accident on Sunday night - this as the family is desperate for the driver to be held accountable for.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call police.
