MOTT HAVEN (WABC) -- Police are searching for the man who opened fire outside a Bronx barbershop.
One man is in the hospital, after being shot in the stomach.
The barbershop is so new that the owners did not have a chance to change the sign before it was closed, at least temporarily by violence.
On Saturday night, a suspect in a hoodie sneaked up behind an SUV and fired directly into the barbershop.
"I hear three shots - everybody was scared," says eyewitness Rammy Yahya.
One of the bullets pierced the storefront window on East 137th Street near Brooke Avenue in the Mott Haven section around 7 p.m. Witnesses say the man shot was a customer. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital, but there is no word on his condition.
The barbershop was open only open for two days. It was the only thing workers would confirm after police cleared the scene - they spent a few minutes inside, and solemnly closed the fates.
"They just don't know what happened," said eyewitness Jorge Torres.
It is very early in the investigation, and there is no word yet from the NYPD in terms of motive.
Anyone with any information on the shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
