BEDFORD-STUYVESANT (WABC) -- Police have a suspect in custody in connection with a shooting in Brooklyn Wednesday night that left three people wounded.
25 year old Cush Wright-El of Baltimore is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and more serious charges are pending.
It was a furious exchange of gunfire that sent a 57-year old man and his 16-year old nephew playing chess in front of a bodega scrambling for safety.
Shell casings covered the street in the middle of Stuyvesant Avenue at Pulaski Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Three people were shot, including a parent coordinator from PS 81 right down the block, who was caught in the crossfire.
The man was shot in the leg, and the teen was shot in the arm.
Witnesses say that the men fled down Dekalb Avenue, one in this black Audi sedan going the wrong way on the one way street, and actually jumped out of the car while it was still moving, to continue the fight.
A family member of the two men witnessed the shooting and the suspect flee on foot.
That man, 28 year old Demetrius Mayo, drove after the suspect and ran him down with his 2004 Audi, police say. He then starting punching him and held him for NYPD anti crime officers who arrived.
In 2013 Cush was accused of shooting three people in Baltimore and charged with attempted murder. In 2010 he was also charged with attempted murder but was acquitted.
