BEDFORD-STUYVESANT (WABC) -- A suspect has been charged in a police-involved shooting in Brooklyn.
22-year-old Naim Owens now faces a number of charges including attempted murder of a police officer. The gun was recovered from the scene.
Investigators say Owens was running from police on Gates Ave. in Bed-Stuy around 2:30 Sunday morning when he opened fire on two officers.
A bullet struck 28-year old officer John Hirschberger, hitting him in the left thigh. He was treated and released from Kings County Hospital.
Owens was hit in the upper back when the officers returned fire on Marcus Garvey Boulevard. He is in stable condition and in custody at Kings County Hospital.
A .38 caliber Rossy firearm was discovered in front of 715 Gates Avenue, police say.
