Teen who illegally scaled World Trade Center arrested again
WEEKHAWKEN, New Jersey (WABC) -- A New Jersey teenager who was arrested after climbing 1 World Trade Center while it was under construction and then posting pictures of him scaling that and other New York City skyscrapers has been arrested again.
Justin Casquejo, 19, was arrested Thursday night after police say he was caught on top of the Paramount Tower Luxury Apartments on East 39th Street just after 9 p.m.
He was charged with criminal trespass after he allegedly accessed the roof without permission and hung off the ledge of a building. The previous charge of second-degree reckless endangerment has been dropped.
Casquejo remains held on $10,000 bail.
Casquejo, who is known for climbing high-rise buildings to take photos and post on social media, was first arrested in 2014 for scaling the top of the then-unopened 1 World Trade Center. He was sentenced to 29 days of community service and two counseling sessions.
On February 21, 2016, he was charged with misdemeanor base jumping and trespassing for climbing to the top of 70 Pine Street in Lower Manhattan. Then, on December 2, he agreed to surrender after he posted on social media various photos of himself on various buildings in Midtown.
