LOWER MANHATTAN (WABC) -- A private security guard at the World Trade Center site stabbed a man during a dispute that started inside a nearby McDonald's, authorities say.

The 20-year-old victim was apparently throwing French fries at the security guard inside the restaurant on Broadway at around 3:45 a.m. Monday.

Police say the dispute spilled outside, where the 55 year old guard pulled a knife and stabbed the younger man in the chest and slashed him in the face.

The guard then ran back toward the World Trade Center site, where he was apprehended near Vesey and Church streets.

Charges against the guard are pending. A knife was not recovered.

The victim called 911 and was taken to Bellevue Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.

Fulton Street was closed in front of the subway station for the police investigation.
