LITTLE NECK, Queens (WABC) -- A new playground is about to open in Queens, made possible by our parent company Disney and 100 volunteers.

The KaBOOM! build is happening at the Samuel Field Y on 52nd Avenue in Little Neck, where the ESPN and ABC community is helping give more than 2,000 area kids the childhood they deserve.

Nearly 85 such playgrounds have been built by the Disney volunteers.

"It's a great opportunity for us to get out in the community," ESPN senior vice president of marketing Chris Brush said. "It's a great team building thing for our group. And it's really super for us to support the youth to get out there and be active. So it's just a great day for everybody."
